Geopolitical risk is often a top concern for globally-engaged organizations, yet companies struggle with identifying and managing geopolitical risk, and positioning such considerations in their business processes. Geopolitics impacts everything from supply chain resilience to physical safety and security, from regulatory stability to strategic planning.

Applied geopolitics as a methodology provides an apolitical lens to observe and assess local, regional, and global developments, to understand current dynamics and build plausible futures scenarios to give business leaders the ability to stress test their own expectations and plans, to create risk mitigation strategies, to identify future opportunities, and to establish a system to identify and monitor indicators of future trends.

An effective geopolitical analysis capability gives companies not only the ability to rapidly respond to crises and changes, but to predict and prepare for the unknowns of the future.

In this session:
RANE’s geopolitical analysis training builds on more than a quarter century of experience in geopolitical risk intelligence and analysis applied to organizations and seeks to bridge the gap between the strategic and tactical.

Participants will learn the key elements of geopolitical analysis and how these can help you understand and anticipate changes that can create risk or opportunity. A baseline geopolitical analysis can help you quickly understand the key aspects of a new market for entry, test assumptions about existing markets, understand the risks and strengths of your business model, and detect macro trends.

The following topics will be covered:
• Geopolitics as a conceptual framework to understand the world
• The seven pillars of geopolitics: Geography, Politics, Economics, Security, Society, History and Technology
• Building structural frameworks - perceptive and objective geopolitics
• Using scenarios and forecasts
